A list of leftist organizations:

  • Industrial Workers of the World (IWW, a.k.a. Wobblies): Founded in 1905, the IWW is a "member-run union for all workers," and the preamble to the union's constitution begins, "The working class and the employing class have nothing in common." It is open to all workers, including prisoners, the unemployed, and even academics. Politically, its membership has historically been comprised of anarchists and members of the left- and international-wings of socialist parties. Much of its activity now focuses on unionizing minimum-wage employees, advocating for political prisoners, and participating in antifascist and antiracist demonstrations. Past and current members include Lucy Parsons, Bill Haywood, Helen Keller, Eugene Debs, Kenneth Rexroth, Mother Jones, Tom Morello, and Noam Chomsky. Members pay monthly dues that are assessed on a sliding scale. http://www.iww.org
